The first week of the new Senedd has been memorable for the Plaid Cymru team in Ceredigion Penfro.
Following a superb Senedd election campaign that saw Plaid Cymru win three Ceredigion Penfro seats, Elin Jones has been appointed Cabinet Minister for Finance in Rhun ap Iorwerth's new cabinet, while Kerry Ferguson has been elected as the Senedd's Deputy Presiding Officer.
As the only cabinet member with previous experience of being a government minister, Elin has been given a key role which will be central to ensuring a successful future for our public services in Wales.
Speaking after her election as Deputy Presiding Officer. Kerry said; "It is a huge honour to be elected Deputy Presiding Officer in my first week as a Member of Senedd. I will continue to work hard on behalf of my constituents across Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
"I'm fortunate to be part of a great Plaid Cymru team in Ceredigion Penfro, along with Elin Jones and Anna Nicholl, and I am now excited for all of us to represent you here in Cardiff Bay."
Elin, who served as Llywydd (Presiding Officer) of the Senedd between 2016 and 2026 added; "I am confident that Kerry will be excellent in the role as Deputy Presiding Officer, and a particularly good constituency worker for the people of Ceredigion Penfro."
We congratulate Elin and Kerry on their new, challenging and exciting roles. The strong presence of Plaid Cymru Ceredigion Penfro in Cardiff Bay - Elin, Kerry and Anna - guarantees that west Wales' voice is heard in the Senedd.
