Hywel Dda Health Board has been consulting on changing hospital services, which has received a big public reaction, especially regarding removing emergency general surgery at Withybush Hospital.
Elin Jones MS strongly believes that services should be kept close to home: “Withybush hospital serves a rural community. Without the ability to undertake emergency general surgery, patients’ lives will be at risk. We know from experience, that the ambulance service is already under pressure, and that our geography doesn’t allow for immediate transfer by road to another hospital for emergency surgery, when every minute counts.”
